Gettin’ Twiggy With It! A Look At Branch And Driftwood Accents!

by Katie on March 20, 2011

Nature is so inspiring to me! And I have recently been inspired by driftwood and reclaimed wood furniture made from fallen and dead trees, rivers, old buildings, and factories.  It’s completely eco-friendly and full of benefits! Aesthetically, I think the interesting natural shapes mesh well with any design style from traditional to ultra modern.  And it adds a little of quirky and eclectic interest to an otherwise well-ordered room!  Another reason I love these natural objects because I always tend to wonder about the long journey my new found treasure went through to find its home with me!  Here are some photos of great reclaimed driftwood furniture, accessories,  and interiors. So, let’s go aux naturale!

I spotted this side table on my last visit to Crate and Barrel. I think it would look perfect in our living room!  I LOVE IT!

This driftwood and lucite table is a gorgeous example of how natural elements fit nicely with modern finishes.

Now, I’m not sure if I would purchase a bowl made of branches for $80.00! But, I think it’s a very cool concept!

Design Tip:  When using driftwood accessories and furniture, try setting the background with light, modern hues such as soft blues, grays or shades of white.  Wood furniture and accents can be over done and can appear too heavy.  So be mindful that less is more!

Is nature inspiring to you? Do you think that natural elements, furniture and accessories could work in your home? Let me know!
