Desire It… Acquire It!! White Ornate Mirror! Not going for “Baroque” over my white ornate mirror

by Katie on March 16, 2011

Once a month I will feature a series called Desire it… Acquire It!  Featuring a lustful interior design item and give tips on how you can acquire the same look on a budget! If you like design, furniture and accessories but cost is an issue for you (and these days it’s pretty much an issue for most of us!) be sure to tune in for more! Here’s  a sneak peek of Desire It…Acquire It!!
I’ve recently had my eye on one particular white fancy mirror from Z Gallerie. But in all honestly, it’s a bit too pricey for my comfort zone. I love the  mirror but my taste changes frequently and maybe in 6 months I won’t love it as much. And at $349.00 it just seems like too much commitment for me. So I set out on a mission to find a budget friendly ornate mirror for my powder bath. Low and behold I found it at Tuesday Morning for $59.00 plus one can of $5.00 white high-gloss spray paint!
My “Desire” mirror! Love it!!!  (It also comes in high-gloss black)

Here’s my ” Acquire”  find pre-paint job.

I taped it off and started painting…

While it’s not exactly the same as the Z Gallerie mirror, I think it turned out pretty good!  My grand total was $65.00 which is a fraction of the cost of my ” Desire” mirror. Let me know what you think!

There is something sophisticated yet modern about an ornate, white mirror. They are wildly versatile and can add a touch of Hollywood glam to almost any room from a little girls nursery to a high-end modern loft. Here are some examples of beautiful white mirrors in fabulous spaces.

Love your website, Katie! Thanks – your ornate white mirror got me thinking about what else I could do with the huge very ornate triple interlocking ovals gold mirror I inherited from my mother-in-law. Years ago, we replaced the big flat mirror that came in my master bath with it, but the gold is flaking off along the bottom and it just is so outdated.

I’ll be watching for your next project!

Huge. Ornate. Triple interlocking ovals!!!!
Ummm, that sounds like a Trifecta of cool! I bet a can of spray paint would make this mirror gorgeous! I would love to see before and after pictures!!
